In 2001, MTC's predecessor, the Taipei City Bus Administration, acquired 30 buses from Ikarus Bus of Hungary, which bore the distinction of being the first fully-built city transit buses to be imported into Taiwan, and also the first low-floor buses in Taipei. In 2010, they were retrofitted with electronic destination signs and painted into MTC's contemporary "Flora" scheme. In accordance with Taipei's local laws limiting the lifespan of low-floor buses to 12 years, the remaining buses in the fleet were withdrawn from service on December 31st, 2013.
